Some ideas for enquiry questions

 

Key concepts that we want students to understand

 

a.     Rules of International trade favour the Minority world – what are these rules and how do they effect the trade of either coffee, tea, milk, bananas etc

b.     The supply chain is complicated- how can our buying fair trade items effect a better way of life for the producers?

c.     The working conditions in the Majority World are often poor

i.   Low wages

                      ii.  No job security

                      iii. Low safety standards – investigate in terms of one product

d.     Environmental damage is often a consequence of production – – investigate in terms of one product

e.     Fair trade is an alternative other forms of trade

i. Also promotes sustainable development– investigate in terms of one product

f.      As consumers we have an impact on people in other parts of the world.-how can I make an impact by buying fair trade items?
