Tourism in Antarctica
Divide the class into two groups:
- Tour Operators – you run tour company which sends tours
to Antartica
- Green Protestors – you are Friends of the Earth who are
trying to protect the natural environment of Antarctica.
Tour Operators
You must plan a total all-inclusive tour to Antarctica. It must include destination, activities, suggested clothing, behavior on the ice, reasons for going (sales pitch)
and highlights. You must produce an advertising brochure and a poster. You may use other advertising media if you wish.
Aim – Sell those holidays!
Green Protestors
You are against any form of tourism as it can pollute the environment. Your job is to gather facts about the dangers
of tourism, analyse green tourism and then produce a brochure and poster to advertise your message. Other forms of advertising
can be used as well.
A debate will be held in the library to decide who has the strongest argument!
